I started this blog on January 1, 2019. It will be a slow work in progress. I am in possession of a great deal of memorabilia and ephemera related to the VanScoter and Spicer line of my genealogy. My paternal grandmother and grandfather was Leota VanScoter and Earl Spicer. The VanScoter line seems to have a tendency to save tangible (paper and photographic) memorabilia.
I think this blog could interest not only my relations, but those who enjoy history, old photographs, ephemera, letter writing/the post, and the like.
Examples of items to share:
Photos including daguerreotypes, tin types, and cabinet cards
personal postal mail from the early 1900’s and WW2 years
post cards from the early 1900’s, including silent picture movie stars
wedding invitations from the 1890’s
scrapbooks filled with clippings
The photo of school children at the top of this blog (and below) is: The 6th grade at public school number 7 in Buffalo, NY in the year 1909. My grandmother Leota VanScoter (married name Spicer) is in the second row, 5th girl from right in a dark dress.
